Peter Davis - elected Mayor of Doncaster 

Peter Davies, The Mayor of Doncaster is a member of the English Democrats party and joined Doncaster Council upon his election in June 2009. 
  
Born in Woodlands, he spent most of his life in Sykehouse and now lives in Bessacarr. He was Head of Religious Studies and Politics at Danum School for 30 years, before taking early retirement. 
 
From his profession, his passion for politics is clear. In the 1990s, Peter was active in UKIP – the United Kingdom Independence Party. However in 2005 he joined the English Democrats.
 
Peter is a founder member of the Campaign for Real Education, an organisation dedicated to restoring high standards of learning and discipline in the state education system. He is also a founder member of the Campaign Against Political Correctness and campaigns for the withdrawal of England from the European Union.
 
In his spare time Peter enjoys relaxing with an Indian takeaway and a pint of real ale. He is a member of the Thomas Hardy Society and enjoys listening to traditional jazz. He also enjoys horse racing and cricket.
